Adrian Thomas Casey - Stanton UK

PROFILE

Adrian Casey was the first neurosurgeon in the UK to be appointed as a pure spinal surgeon. His first
consultant appointment was to Charing Cross Neurosurgery Unit in 1996.

He was subsequently appointed as the first spinal neurosurgeon in the UK to his current post at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queen Square (UCLH). This was a specially created post to bring together the two disciplines of Spine Surgery (Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery).

He has worked at the two National Hospitals (Orthopaedic & Neurosurgical) for more than twenty years. He set up the EANS advanced spine teaching and currently serves on the WFNS education section. He is Past president of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons, and has authored more than 200 peer reviewed articles and 21 book chapters on spine surgery.


EXPERIENCE

CONSULTANT SPINE NEUROSURGEON NATIONAL HOSPITAL NEUROLOGY & NEUROSURGERY
QUEEN SQUARE — 1998- PRESENT

In this role, where I serve as clinical lead I have developed complex spine surgery in the National hospital
Neurology & Neurosurgery Queen Square over 20 years with seven pure spine surgeons (originally two
part time1998). I am Spine Network lead here for North London

CONSULTANT SPINE NEUROSURGEON ROYAL NATIONAL ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL STANMORE —
1998- PRESENT

This is the largest spine unit in the UK. Here I work alongside my orthopaedic colleagues and provide
complex spine neurosurgical service with my other neurosurgical colleague
